A Madness Shared by Twins

A Madness Shared by Twins

Swedish twin sisters Ursula and Sabina Eriksson lived normal everyday lives, had a clean bill of health with no reported mental health issues. Despite all of this, they somehow managed to go inexplicably insane at the exact same time in a busy M6 motorway in the UK, all caught on videotape.

Ursula ran into the path of an oncoming highway traffic, Sabina then immediately duplicated her twin. Surprisingly, both sisters survived the horrific incident

The twins believed to have a rare psychiatric disorder in which delusional beliefs are transmitted from one individual to another. Sabina Eriksson was believed to be the secondary sufferer of folie à deux (French for "a madness shared by two), influenced by the presence her twin sister Ursula – the primary sufferer.

Sabina, who was calm and less deranged, compared to her identical twin, told a police officer, "We say in Sweden that an accident rarely comes alone. Usually at least one more follows – maybe two." However, upon her release from the hospital, she stabbed 54-year-old Glenn Hollinshead to death.

Madness in the Fast Lane (M6)

Sabina lived in Ireland with her partner and two children, and Ursula lived in America. The two met in Ireland, for unknown reasons, and decided to take a trip to London. On the bus, they started to act erratically. The bus driver, fearing for the safety of his passengers, asked them to leave the vehicle.

The pair began to walk down the M6, but when attempting to cross the motorway, they caused a chaos and picked up minor injuries. When paramedics and police officers arrived at the scene, they made numerous suicide attempts. Resisting, fighting and screaming at the paramedics and police officers at the scene, Sabina shouted "They're going to steal your organs" and "I recognize you – I know you're not real".

Their older brother claimed in a Swedish newspaper that his sisters were fleeing from maniacs who were chasing them.

There was no evidence that drugs or alcohol were involved in the incidents.

Shortly after the highway incident, Sabina killed a father of two by stabbing him repeatedly with a kitchen knife. After the slaying, paramedics who arrived at the scene saw her hitting herself on the head with a hammer before jumping off a bridge.

She survived and was charged with manslaughter. The psychiatrists said Sabina was suffering delusions, which she believed to be true and dictated her behavior. She was sentenced to five years in prison and was paroled in 2011; her whereabouts are currently unknown.

Where are Ursula and Sabina Eriksson now?

By the look of it, the twins have fallen off the face of the earth. The Internet is filled with conspiracy theories from the two women being government experiments for something called MK-Ultra (a research conducted in the early 50’s by the CIA, where unwitting test subjects were fed LSD) to the two women being possessed by demons.

Does anyone know what happened to Ursula and Sabina Eriksson, where are they?

Edit: Looks like Ursula is back in U.S and is a member of the Sacred Heart Church. According to the church's website, in April 2011, Ursula received the: "RCIA Rites of Scrutiny prayed over her as she open herself to be illuminated and healed by Christ and delivered from emptiness, illusions and death-prone effects of evil."

By all accounts, Sabina is back in mainland Europe, currently living in Norway.
