A gay veteran tombstone

A Gay Veteran Tombstone

It reads, “When I was in the military, they gave me a medal for killing two men and a discharge for loving one.”

Leonard Matlovich was the first gay service member to come out, in order to fight the ban on gays in the military. His tombstone is at Congressional Cemetery in Washington D.C., in the same row as ex-FBI Director John Edgar Hoover.
